Mandy's, the Toronto salad house
In 2004 Mandy and Rebecca Wolfe opened up Montreal's first create-your-own salad bar in the back of a women's clothing store.
Mandy's official story page
Mandy's is the Montreal salad house that Toronto now treats as a weekday lunch room: create-your-own bowls, named plates, a shop that sells the cookbook next to the dressings. Mandy and Rebecca Wolfe opened the first counter in 2004, in the back of a clothing store. The official story still calls that Montreal's first create-your-own salad bar.
The Toronto shops are the later chapter — Distillery, Ossington, The Well, Yorkville, Yonge and Eglinton. The photograph is the official Distillery interior: cookbooks on the scalloped counter, checkered floor, the room they designed, not a bowl close-up from our table.
The statements found the name more than once from early May into June. Same house, one post. The sisters still write the menu in Montreal. The receipt is only the proof someone stood in the Toronto line.
