Aloette opened in 2017 at 163 Spadina Avenue, downstairs from Alo. Patrick Kriss and the Alo Food Group built a narrow diner-bistro: bar stools at the kitchen, a burger, an iceberg wedge, lemon meringue pie, old-school hip hop. Michelin has recommended it since 2022.

The official Spadina page quotes the Guide: everyone wants the burger, and for dessert there must be pie. The room is no wider than a train car. A second Aloette later opened near Union. This note is the original Spadina shop — McDonald’s across the street, cheddar brioche on the table.

The statement called it a Wednesday supper. The city already had a name for the pie.
